The Best Ways to Care for your Child’s Shoes.

With our unpredictable British weather, there is always the risk that our children’s shoes will last even less time than we predicted. Their feet are growing fast enough as it is, never mind their shoes to be damaged from not being properly cared for!

Let us help you care for your children’s shoes, and make sure that they last as long as possible!

Quality Over Quantity.
A good quality shoe will last longer than one of lesser quality. This is down to the materials being used and the manufacturing of the shoe too. Better quality shoes will also be better for your child’s feet, especially as they’re growing so rapidly. Better quality doesn’t always have to be overly expensive though, we have a large price range on The Children’s Shoe Company, so you can find the perfect fit for you and your little ones.

Day-To-Day Cleaning.
First things first, what is the best way to keep them clean day-to-day? We would recommend that you
clean them with water regularly. This can be when they have a few scuffs or are looking a little worse for
wear. Take a piece of cloth, or an old flannel and give them a wipe down with water.
Now, what to do if they get dirty or muddy? We would suggest that you let the mud dry, and then brush it off. After this make sure to clean them with soap and water, this can be dish soap. Finally, rinse
the soap off with water.

How Do I Dry My Child’s Shoes?
We know that rain is a common part of our lives here in England. In terms of drying shoes, we would recommend that you let them air dry. It can disrupt the material of the shoe if you put them near or on direct heat, so for shoes, place them in a warm area and leave them until dry! If they are wet inside then place some scrunched up kitchen towel inside and leave them to dry out.

Laces Or Velcro?
We all know how impatient children can be. But, when it comes to them putting their shoes on and taking them off, make sure they are doing this properly. Laces can be a tempting choice to encourage them to learn to tie them and give them a little independence, however if they are forcing their feet out of their shoes this will damage them. The best choice for children that cannot tie laces is velcro, it will help them to still be independent but also allow them to properly put on and take off their shoes, without damaging them.

Finally, applying polish to shoes, especially school shoes, will help them to battle the elements and look smarter. Polish works by adding a protective layer to the material of the shoe. We have a range of WOLY polishes on our website that go perfectly with our shoes, they are even suitable for adult shoes so purchasing them is a no-brainer!
